National Teams
Wear the badge
South Africa's national lacrosse teams carry the lion crest into international competition — and the next 24 months are the biggest in the programme's history.
Men's National Team
Sixes · Senior Squad
The men's programme is built around the fast, Olympic-format Sixes discipline. The squad's mission for 2026 is clear: win on home soil at the African Sixes Championships in Johannesburg and claim South Africa's place at the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championship.

Women's National Team
Sixes · Senior Squad
The women's squad competes in the same Sixes format on the same stage, with the same prize at stake — the top women's finisher in Johannesburg advances to the 2027 World Sixes. Women's lacrosse is central to SALA's growth plans, on the field and in leadership.

From Vaalwater to Los Angeles
The national teams carry a story that started with 30 kids on a borrowed soccer pitch. Every campaign from here builds toward the biggest stages in world sport.
The First Camp
Lacrosse is introduced to South Africa for the first time, at a camp in Vaalwater, Limpopo.
World Lacrosse Membership
SALA is admitted as the 69th member nation, opening the door to sanctioned international competition.
African Sixes, Johannesburg
South Africa hosts the continental championships at St Stithians College, 1–4 December.
World Sixes Championship
The winners in Johannesburg advance to the World Lacrosse Sixes Championship to face the world's best.
The Olympic Games
Lacrosse returns to the Olympics at LA28 in the Sixes format — the summit every SALA athlete is climbing toward.
